Hi! I’m Amanda Hoover, the Storyteller’s Alchemist—a passionate editor, storyteller, and creative partner for authors. I grew up in a grammatically correct household, where I learned at a young age that words matter and that it’s important to say what you mean.

In 2007, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish from Scripps College, a small, writing-intensive liberal arts school in Southern California. My passion for language and expression has carried me through a career that has included writing and editing documentation, training materials, and communications in IT and higher education. Along the way, I also began editing my dearest friend’s fiction novels, which eventually led me back to my greatest love—helping authors craft powerful, immersive stories.

As an editor, I take a collaborative and intuitive approach, ensuring that your voice remains at the heart of your work while strengthening narrative flow, deepening characters, and refining language. Whether you need a deep developmental edit or a final proofread, I am here to support you in bringing your vision to life.

Editing is not just my job—it’s my passion. I am always honing my craft, seeking continuing education opportunities, and expanding my expertise through professional courses and reading editing-related books for fun. I have obtained the Poynter ACES Certificate in Editing and remain committed to growing as an editor to best serve my clients.
